Frequently Asked Questions: General

Q. When is a particular title going to be available on DVD?
A. New Line Cinema appreciates all of the mail we receive on this subject. Currently, we are attempting to release titles onto DVD as quickly as possible without compromising quality. Generally, we announce the DVDs that are coming soon approximately 2 months prior to their release date. Please keep checking our DVD home page for the most current information on upcoming releases.

Q. Will you ship DVD's outside of the United States?
A. Currently, New Line Cinema distributes its DVDs to Region 1 (U.S. and Canada) and has no plans to ship to other regions. All international releases are through licensed dealers.

Q. Why is the widescreen version of the film making things look too skinny?
A. You have your DVD player set on the wrong aspect ratio. To correct it, go into the your DVD player's setup menu and choose the option for a regular TV (4:3) as opposed to widescreen TV (16:9). Once the switch is made, the player will automatically letterbox the picture so that you can see it in the correct proportions. Please refer to the operations manual for your DVD player for further instruction on this matter.

Q. Why isn't my DVD playing in my DVD-ROM drive?
A. Because of the vast number of models, issues, and system configurations that exist for DVD-ROM drives, it is very difficult for us to address these problems. We suggest that you contact your DVD-ROM drive or computer manufacturer with your specific problem. Also, be sure that you are running your system with the most current DVD-ROM drive and software.

Q. Why does a DVD pause or freeze for a few seconds?
A. This is called a "layer change." Some movies that are more than two hours long may be spread over two different layers on a disc. When the DVD player switches from the first layer to the second layer, there may be a short pause. This will only occur on dual layer DVDs, which are recognizable by the gold color on the playing surface (the side of the DVD that does not have writing on it). This is not a defect in the DVD. The length of the pause depends on the layout of the disc and the type of player that you are using.
