    All Star Cast Captivate In Family Drama Safe Passage Now On DVD From New Line Home Entertainment

    Susan Sarandon, Marcia Gay Harden, Sam Sheppard & Robert Sean Leonard Among the Critically Acclaimed Cast

    Los Angeles (January 5, 2004) New Line Home Entertainment today announced the release of the touching family drama Safe Passage available for the first time on DVD April 6 for $19.97. Academy Award® winner Susan Sarandon (Dead Man Walking, Thelma & Louise) stars as the mother of seven sons who feels like she is losing control of her life. When a potential tragedy strikes the family, they are all reminded of what really matters in life. The film is currently available on VHS.

    Sarandon stars as Mag Singer, a woman who is preparing to make a huge change in her life. She has just left her husband (Academy Award® Nominee Sam Shepard, Black Hawk Down, The Right Stuff) and is planning a move with her youngest son Simon (Nick Stahl, Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines, In the Bedroom) as she starts a new career. In the process of packing, she receives the news of a terrorist bombing of a U.S. Marine compound in the Middle East where one of her oldest sons, Percival, is stationed. With no news of Percival’s status, the disconnected family reconvenes in the family home to wait for information. Supporting cast includes Robert Sean Leonard (Driven, Dead Poets Society), Academy Award® winner Marcia Gay Harden (Mystic River, Pollock), Sean Astin (The Lord of the Rings Motion Picture Trilogy), Jason London (Grind, The Man in the Moon) and Matt Keeslar (Scream 3, The Stupids).

    The DVD features the widescreen (1.85:1) version of the film with 5.1 Surround Sound and Stereo Surround Sound with English and Spanish subtitles, closed captions and animated menus. The DVD also includes the theatrical trailer along with trailers from other New Line Home Entertainment films.
