Synopsis

For 14-year-old Walter (Haley Joel Osment), his great uncles’ farm in rural Texas is the last place on earth he wants to spend the summer. Dumped off by his mother, Mae (Kyra Sedgwick), Walter is left with the eccentric Hub and Garth McCaan (Robert Duvall), who are rumored to have a hidden fortune. Little by little, amazing stories come to life via Walter’s vivid imagination. Hearing tales of their exotic adventures involving kidnapped princesses, Arabian sheiks, faraway lands and lost treasure, not only brings Walter closer to his uncles but also teaches him what it means to believe in something... whether it’s true or not. Likewise, Hub and Garth gain a fresh perspective on their own lives rejuvenated by the boy’s spirit and curiosity.
